Climate Ministry Team

Our Mission and Vision

The mission of the Climate Ministry is to act as faithful stewards of creation by responding to the global crisis of climate change through education, advocacy and action. Humanity’s relationship to creation is an essential component of our faith. As Christians, we are called to protect life, whose existence is being threatened by our continued dependence on fossil fuels. We have a choice on how to respond to this crisis:  with despair or with hope.  The Climate Ministry’s goal is to offer support to one another as we work toward spiritual and lifestyle transformation based on hope, faith and reverence for all of God’s creation.

Our Goals

  • Provide a supportive environment for sharing our feelings about climate change
  • Educate congregation on climate change issues, including environmental justice concerns
  • Offer encouragement and avenues for action
  • Create and implement local actions
  • Organize attendance at conferences, Salem lobbying days
  • Coordinate outreach activities (e.g. Earth Day)
  • Inform congregation of climate related events in wider community
